Evangelical Lutheran Church A caring community of Christians worshiping in the church, founded in 1839, which served the first Lutheran Theological Seminary in the United States in Hartwick Seminary, New York, just south of Cooperstown. The Seminary was founded in 1797 and established in the Hartwick Patent which became named the hamlet of Hartwick Seminary in 1815 as part of the larger surrounding Town of Hartwick. Reverend Paul R. Sunday Worship Schedule: Sunday School is at 10:30 A.M. September to June Worship Service is at 11:15 A.M. Communion is joyfully celebrated on the Second Sunday of every month and on Holy Days falling on Sundays. Coffee Hour is held on the first Sunday of every month at 10:00 A.M. in the Hayes Room. Our Church is a member of the Foothills Conference of the Upstate Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Pastor Paul is Dean of our Conference. Our congregation is partnered with Zion/St. John's Lutheran Church in Sharon Springs on State Route 10 and in Seward just south of State Route 165, both in Northern Schoharie County. Our Foothills Conference sponsors a Deacon Training Program at the Hartwick Seminary Institute of Theology, hosted by Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York in late July/early August of every year. The Institute was founded in 1989 and has provided spiritual training and enrichment to laity and clergy. |
